Okay, this is what I want to do:
I want to upgrade my hardware (everything but PVR-350 and fx5200) and re-install knoppmyth on the new drive. However, I want to keep all my recorded shows. From reading the forums I know I want to run a backup. However, I obviously also want to backup the .nuv files and "unknown database backup" to my desktop pc.

My question is this: what all do I need to backup to my desktop pc in order to preserve my recorded tv shows. What about already scheduled future recordings?

Umm, I mentioned I searched the forum, that's how I found the information I had... I just didn't find complete information, which is why I asked my question... Perhaps you can provide a better search string for me? Or a link to the supposed answers?

I did more searching. Everything I have seen is for backup and restore with the same hard drive. I haven't seen anything about backing up and then restoring to a new hard drive and which files need to be saved, put on the new hard drive and then how to restore them to the db...

Condensed version: mythtv backs up everything to the /myth filesystem. To migrate to a new drive, you need to install mythtv and then copy the entire /myth filesystem from the old drive to the new one. Then you can do a "mythrestore" and it will copy the restore stuff from its home under /myth/backup and put it in the MySql data tables. Mythbackup does not actually archive the shows, but they are also stored on the /myth filesystem so if you do the above, you will have your shows and database and all will be in sync.
