Once you get the TV out working, everything all the other viewing (other than the menus, or Xserver) should work on the TV.

Example:
You watch live TV, view on TV
You watch pre-recorded show, view on TV
You watch DVD, view on TV

BUT, to get the Xserver running on the TV is a different matter. I'm again at that point. I did have it working at one time, but re-installed KnoppMyth after I got a bigger hard drive and am back to the point you are (minus the remote working)

From what I remember from getting it working before, I followed the Fedora/Myth directions at: http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php?S ... 50out=open but I really need to learn to write down what I do to get this stuff working. It would really help out the next time I have to do it.

search that link for : Running X on the PVR-350's TV-Out-
and you'll get to the pertinent info. I do remember the last time I got Xserver running on the TV, I was surprised. I think you may want to reboot often - I think it was after a reboot it started working for me.

I'll work on it myself as well.

:?: I can get tv-out with audio now...but I have a simple question. If I look on my monitor, I see cascading text. Is it normal ?

I'm also seeing the same issue with the striped black and white lines:

Can anyone tell me the cause of this and anything I can try to resolve it?

Many thanks.

from the fedora instructions at http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php?S ... 50out=open:

Quote:
If you got video, but there were like 20 to 50 evenly spaced horizontal lines overlaying it, try tweaking the ivtv-fb driver with this command:
Code:
/usr/bin/ivtvfbctl /dev/fb1 -alpha -on -globalalpha -nolocalalpha

Thanks for the reply. If I try that command I get the response:

-bash: /usr/bin/ivtvfbctl: No such file or directory

Locate is your friend:
Code:
root@black2:~# locate ivtvfbctl
/usr/local/bin/ivtvfbctl

If you don't have locate set up (it should work "right out of the box") then find is your friend:
Code:
root@black2:~# find / -name ivtvfbctl -print
/usr/local/bin/ivtvfbctl

Alternately, you can use find:

find / | grep ivtvfbctl

That's how I find stuff on my hard drive

Thanks guys. I've ran the command successfully, unfortunately I still get exactly the same black and white stripes on the tv. Any ideas?
