Hi,

I've had a good look around the forums and can't seem to find much on installing or configuring the Nebula DigiTV DVB Card. I can't even tell if its supported in myth tv.

Can anybody help me with how to get this working?

The card I have is shown here http://www.nebula-electronics.com/information/info.asp?Code=0001

Any help would be much appreciated :)

This page indicates that it is supported by linux.

NXT6000 demod supported by recent kernels, mt352 demod supported by dvb-kernel CVS since 3rd August 2005.

Yes, thanks Greg. I had already seen that. (I had a really good hunt around before posting). As knoppmyth seems to have been built in May i'm assuming the support isn't built in. But I dont know how to add / setup / configure / update linux to support it.

I really want to get into using Linux for more things. I love the idea of it. I have many years experience with dos / windows and have had several attempts (From RH9 onwards) to set up a usable system but finding help is very difficult. (i've tried linuxquestions in the past for that).

I tried setting up mythtv in the past, but the package dependancies are horrendous. I also recently tried Fedora Core 4 but the myth install package is currently unavailable using yum (Its logged as a bug). So no joy there either.

Thank you for your reply

:)

In general the support on this forum is very good. If its mythtv you want, then knoppmyth is the best distro bar none. You wont need to worry about anything like dependencies for mythtv. It all gets automaticallu installed and configured for you. All you will need to worry about is getting your card to work. It may just work. You may need to compile a newer kernel (plenty of easy guides on this forum for doing that). You may need to run CVS linuxtv. Im sure someone can help you with that if you cant work it out. One thing you will have to do is provide the relevant information when you are asking questions. The glaring omission in this post is whether your card has the NXT6000 or the mt352 demodulator (since it is obvious from the linuxtv page that this may be important).

I have a Nebula DVB-T which is mostly working, scanned, found channels etc. It has the NXT6000 tuner so I know that one works.
The magic commands seem to be (for me) :-
modprobe dvb-bt8xx
echo dvb-bt8xx >> /etc/modules

Found in an earlier post
