I have a Shuttle SN41G2v2 XPC that's currently running R5A15.1 with a single PVR-250. I'd like to upgrade and try to get a PVR-500 up and running for dual-tuning capabilities.

I keep reading that the PVR-500 is an oversized PCI card. Does anyone know if it will fit inside the Shuttle case?

Thanks!

Also... does anybody know if there's a timetable for official support in KnoppMyth for the PVR-500? If support is a few months away, I might just wait so I don't have to monkey around with all the IVTV craziness to get the tuners working.

I wouldn't say a few months away... But then again I've been so busy, it is hard to say.

I doubt it will fit. I have an sn85g4 and the hard drive chasis hits the card so it wont fit. The SN41 is a different case, but my guess is you'll have the same problem.

The PVR-250 was a tight fit in my old SN41G2. To get it in or out meant unscrewing the drive tray and lifting that up at least a couple inches.

I have the Shuttle XPC model SK43G (i.e. Athlon XP/Duron) and have managed to handily cram two cards into it. The PVR250 fits like a glove and the slightly monstrous Nvidia FX5900LE fits as well. These little boxen are bigger than you think on the inside. However the PCI slot is closer to the heatsink and the drive trays so there may be fitment issues. Only way to do it right is to try it.

If you ever have hardware you're worried about, get it locally from a CompUSA-type storefront with a good return policy. Most online retailers will charge you a restocking fee if you can't get it to fit.

Turns out that the PVR-500 will indeed fit into the SN41G2. It's a bit of a chore getting it in, but it will work.
