i was trying to set up lvm on my second harddrive. i got all they way to the part where i was copying my files over and once that finished i edited the fstab file and rebooted. everythign worked fine except that it didnt copy all my files over it only copyed mabye 20 gig worth. so i backtracked and undid the fstab part and all my files were there so i tried to copy them again. i let it run then it said there was no more harddrive space. my original /myth had 300 gig on it and the new drive is 320 gig. so i edited the fstab agian to use the volume group and when i rebooted i get the error gdm could not write to your authorization file.

Please help

How many times do you intend to post this? This isn't installation related and doesn't belong in KnoppMyth -> Installation. Post it again and I'll delete it and your account. I know you wanted help, but pissing me off isn't going to get you anywhere. Don't have a cow, simply stating the facts.

Regards,

Cecil

You posted the same thing twice in KnoppMyth > Installation. The entire forum is a help forum. If you don't know where to post, I'd suggest you read this.

I don't get it. All the fstab does is mount the volume. Are you saying that when you mount the volume manually you can see all your files, but if you auto mount it the files are missing? I don't know what to tell you.

Try executing 'df" with the volume mounted manually, then again with it mounted by fstab. Post the results here. Should be interesting...

i got all my data off hda4 and have decided to do a clean reinstall of myth
and i would like to setup lvm

i would like some suggestion on the way i should go about doing this.

i read somewhere that once myth installs you skip the setup part, after the first reboot, and reformat hda4 to lvm. if i do it this way how would i coutinue the setup once i setup lvm on hda4?

well i have tried to setup lvm but it is a complete headache. i tried to setup lvm once the install was compete i followed the guide on the howto and i was getting errors saying the backend wasnt running. also when i would connect via samba i would get errors when trying to write to the disk.

im also getting this error "qsettings error creating root.qt"
