Hi,

What would it take to set one of the links on the mythweb recorded programs web page to be linked to a pretty mpg link? Currently, the thumbnail and the title are both connected to the .nuv file. Could one or the other be connected to point to the pretty link which is .mpg? Then it should be click and play as would be a music file.

My experience with internet explorer is that when you "click" on an mpeg file, it will download it to your local drive prior to playing it. It will not stream.

If you are looking for a way to select a video from mythweb and have it stream to your machine for playback, I described a way to do this in my post:

Hi marc.aronson,

With Win2k and Xp, I have found that if click on a pretty link that it will open in media player as it is being pull across. It may not be "officially" streaming however I don't have to wait 10 minutes to view it.

I may look into a more 'integrated' mythstreamtv. current version uses a separate list of Recorded Shows then directs to page to select streaming options. I always pick the same options so the whole think could be trimmed down.

I'm thinking about saving the streaming settings in the DB...maybe two sets, LAN and WAN. then adding a link (or two) on the stock Recorded Programs and maybe the Listings (for Live). a click of these links will bypass the configstream, read the DB saved parms. maybe a redirect to the mms URL to just start streaming.

A half way step will be to simply hard code the parms in the scripts.

MJL:

My experience under XP is that when I click on a link that points at an "mpg" file in internet explorer, it first downloads it and then starts to play it. It sounds like u are seeing a different behvarior. I will try again when I return from a biz trip I am on.

Hi marc.aronson,

I believe you have to load media player 9 and a mpeg codec from m$. It is a free upgrade but you have to jump through hoops to get it. A super secret code to make sure it is really a valid m$? Anyway may also be a feature of windvd however since I don't use it much, I don't know details.

I'll look into it for details if you would like.
