Okay, I like having posters on all my videos. Now that my number of videos and number of posters is getting pretty big, it's a pain in the but to perform this function through MythTV (my thumb starts to get sore...). Is there an easier way to assign a poster to a video? Perhaps through MythWeb or webmin?

Also, if I move a video to a new folder I lose all the metadata for it, is there some way to tell the database that the video has moved?

thx

well, actually I have my own posters that I've downloaded for shows, etc. While that script did catch my eye earlier (as well as the tv show one) It won't quite fit my needs. I'm looking more for an easier way to navigate the myth menu. If I could use a mouse that would be the best way which led me to my webmin question...

This is mostly for when I download an entire tv season and then have to go through and apply a poster to 24 files...

I am aware of that (read in my post "as well as the tv show one")
again, I would prefer to have my own posters...
perhaps I just need to look at his script and see how he is assigning posters to shows, maybe I can make my own script...

I will try again to say what I'm looking for, though. I am interested in a method of assigning an image as a poster to a video file without a lot of arrow button work. Perhaps something like assigning a poster by folder? Or maybe a gui interface that allows me to use a mouse instead of arrow keys/buttons...

I think any data entry expert would agree that the keyboard is considerably faster at these tasks than a mouse and pointer. That being said, if you feel you must do this with a mouse, then try this:
http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=WebminHowTo
Follow the directions there get webmin up and running. Then from another computer, fire up your favorite web browser, login to webmin on the mythbox. Go to Servers, MySQL, and open the mythconverge database. In there you will find the tables, and i believe the one your are looking for is called videos. (I am trying to do this from memory so the name may be wrong.) Anyway, from here, you could go in and edit the database entries for the video files that MythVideo has already found and added to the table. This include the poster location. You could certainly create a bit of script and SQL to mass update this, or you can click the mouse button until your finger hurts. Other than this, I don't think there is any other way of doing it short of a MySql front end. Umm, come to think of it, you could create something in MS Access and the MySQL ODBC drivers if you use Windows, or FileMaker, or any one of a 100 database tools that will connect to a MySQL server. But just know that this is a really good way to hose your database files if you screw something up. backup first.
