For the remote, I followed the instructions here:

My remote now works, but some of the key bindings are idiotic, so I'm going to have to do some editing.

For the screen size, I suspect it's more difficult than just changing the size settings (I think the rest of the mode line has to be adjusted so the timings are right), but then again, I haven't tried yet either, so who knows. That's next on my list!

I did these a while back but they should still work:

- File and printer sharing -

Start samba
su
/etc/init.d/samba start

Make it work all the time
update-rc.d samba defaults

Set the password
smbpasswd -a mythtv


- Getting the nintendo to work -

ran apt get from lynx
http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages
install libpng2
install zsnes

Launch zsnes from command line.
Set input #1 to keyboard.
Set video to fullscreen.
