Hi,

I am new to the whole mythtv stuff but was looking to give it a try. Before I went out and got some real hardware for a system I wanted to try out my old wintv card with my cable tv to see how it worked. Linux seemed to have no problems detecting and installing the 878 based card and then it let me set everything up. Problem is when I go to the live tv I can see a really static filled image and can not seem to change the channel. Now as the card is old I booted into windows 2000 and installed it with the windows driver and set my feq. to US-CABLE *like i did in linux* and this time it was perfect and clear without any problems. Are there known problems with the wintv 878 cards I did not find in my last 3 hours of searching? Or do i need a better matched driver than the one linux auto installed? Please share any input you have as I really would like to get this work and try it if my hardware will allow it.

Perhaps you need to specify card and tuner type.

It was a duh me moment... I needed to setup the connection to link the cable signal to the capture card now I can watch tv. I just had another problem record though. It seems that when I put on the live tv I can still hear the audio from the channel no matter where I am or even if I exit mythtv. I tried recording a show and when I played it back it had no audio. The only audio I can hear is that from the live tv. So for example if I'm watching music videos then I play a recorded sports game... I am watching sports but still listening to the music I was just watch... I'm off to search on the problem but if anyone knows what makes this happen it would be a great help.
