I bought a 300G harddrive to build a mythTV box, but I also have a 40G drive just hanging around.

I was planning on using both drives, 40G for Linux/MythTV install and 300G strictly for storage.

Is it worth the pain? What's the best way to proceed ? (ie. install both drives before installing mythTV or install 1, install mythTV then add the second larger harddrive.)

Thanks,
David.

I would say that installing first and then moving the 'myth' directory to the 2nd drive after would be the easiest.

I thought about doing the same, but another drive makes the mythbox that much noisier....

Thanks.

It's for a backend only. I plan to use my xbox as the frontend :)

Here's a good tutorial for exactly what you want to do with the second drive:

http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page ... driveHowTo

If you haven't yet, take a look around the rest of the wiki. There's some good stuff in there.
