Hi all,
I'm totally new to this forum and this "community". I have bought several pieces of my DVR, but I haven't bought my capture card yet.

I want my DVR to be as cheap as possible, but I don't to decrease sound and video quality.

The wintv 150 is $100 (cnd) less than the wintv 350. I was wondering if it can do the job.

I won't use the TV tuner because I have digital cable. So I will use the Svideo and audio inputs.

For the output, I would use the video card output (fx5200) to have the openGL acceleration. (Kids can play games).

I have read somewhere that nvidia cards have hardware MPEG acceleration. Is it true?

So I've search for benchmarks which compare video and sound quality of these cards, but I didn't find anything interesting.

Can anyone advice me? what card is the best for me?

My system is :
A7V880
Athlon XP-M 2500+
1 GB RAM
DVD±RW
Maxtor DM10 200 GB

A PVR-150 will work fine for what you're doing. Regarding video, Nvidia cards do have hardware MPEG2 decoding. It's called XvMC. It is not, however, completely stable. The picture quality is not great, and it doesn't work with the on screen display. With the system you're running you shouldn't need it though. I have an Athlon 2400+ XP and I have no less than 40% idle CPU while watching TV.

It's not the same chipset even if it's a VIA.

Thanks for your advice. Actually the mobo is not bought yet.
I was looking for the a7v880 or a7n8x. I will go with the a7n8x ....
