I am not a linux expert in any way but have my mythbox up and running with no major problems. I do have a few questions though.

Is there an easy way to have a few of the tech video shows like diggnation or
\twit to automatically download to my mythbox for me to watch?
Once these shows are on my mythbox is there an avi player already installed
and configured or do I have to install xine or something?

Thanks
miker

Diggnation and TWiT aren't commercial shows so there shouldn't be a copyright violation issue.

The low-tech way to do it is to get the episodes the way you usually would, then copy them to your MythTV box (to /myth/video if you're using KnoppMyth), then add them to the list via Settings->Video Manager, then view them with Watch Videos (which uses mplayer).

There is a MythTV plug in called torrentocracy which would be the cool way of doing it. Search the forum or Google for info on it.

even better if they use a predictable naming scheme, and regular releases, a shell script and wget could get them automatically.

There is iPodder too. I have not used it myself yet, but feedback seems good.

Diggnation has podcast feed... http://feeds.feedburner.com/diggnation

Good luck and post your results.

I know TWIT is available as a podcast on an RSS feed, dont know about Diggnation. I use a program called bashpodder for my podcast client. Easy to setup and schedule with cron.

All I will say about BitTorrent is there are linux command line clients available.

Did you get this working?

Bringing this to the GUI would be awesome! Be able to plug into the RSS feed and downloading the shows would kill Tivo & ReplayTV.

Aloha,
Matt

I followed the instructions from the ipodder thread posted above. Works great, I get all of the revision 3 stuff (Digg, twit, sysm, etc) and DL.TV downloaded to my computer when they come out.
