While the box is progressing and I am acquiring all the hardware I need I was hoping I could get some ideas on what sort of remote to use. While the one that came with my PVR150 seems nice, are there any REALLY nice ones that just work well?

I saw this Sky Navigator one (sold only in UK it seems) which pops open to show a full QWERTY keyboard and thought that would help VERY nicely if I ever surfed through the MythBox. Does anyone have any experience with that one?

The logitechs look nice but WAY out of my price range for what I am looking for in a remote, more or less just looking to see if there is anything that fits well.

You might want to check the lirc website for a list of compatible remotes. That sky navigator remote you mention doesn't come with a receiver and isn't designed for use with computers. You might be able to make it work, but it would be an uphill battle.

IR Receiver aside I thought you could use any remote that would send a signal. Perhaps I was mistaken, thanks for the info!

I also should note that I intend to use the IR Receiver that came with my PVR 150 unless there is anything preventing me from doing so.

It's supported by lirc and it claims to work with any IR remote. You might be able to make your 150 receiver work, but you'd have to do some research.

Please try searching before posting. Cecil (Mr. KnoppMyth himself) recently opened the thread below. Since he's asking what remotes he should try to include support for, it's likely to be pretty indicative of what people are actually using...

I'm still trying to get my URC 6131 working. Its a great PVR remote that I used to use on my Tivo. It has the thumbs up/down which aren't really needed, but it has the nice PVR Menu button for spousal approval factor, since she got used to hitting th Tivo button on the Tivo remote.

It's cheap, ~$10 from bestbuy, or you can get them for like $16 with JP1 pins installed.
