I have installed R5A22 from scratch and I don't get to watch TV as all I get is no signal lock and a black screen.

Here is my /etc/modules/;
Code:
# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are
# to be loaded at boot time, one per line.  Comments begin with
# a `#', and everything on the line after them are ignored.

This did not work for me, the backend would not start automatically and when I started it manually and the system could not connect to it still.

I won't be able to try anything tonight, due to attending study.

I will get a chance tomorrow night, but what I found confusing was that the frontend could not talk to the backend and I could also not ssh into my box. Obviously my network card module is different to yours and this may be why it could not talk to the backend even though it is locally on the same machine.

Any other theories?

Also after booting with these modules should I go through the mythtv setup again?

you might even need to move around your modules to load in a different order. i know on one version of knoppmyth i had to move them around to get everything to work right.

Girkers, what happened when you scanned in mythtv-setup?

Did it find any channels? Had you tried deleting all the channels and re-scanning?

Yeah it finds the channels, the funny thing is, it starts the signal and snr at 50% strength and goes from there. But obviously the 0 has moved to 50% as it stays there even when there is no signal.

I have tried scanning a number of ways, the fully automatic and importing a channel.conf, either way I get diddly squat when trying to watch tv.

Funnily enough I got the TV to work with a bit of help from a newbie called yaz.

He posted how to test your dvb card and whilst his command line was not entirely correct it lead me to test if the card worked outside of MythTV.

I had recently killed my installation so I had reinstalled A22 and had not done the TV setup. I did the test as in post http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6542 and created and test the channels.conf, all good.

Then in mythtv-setup I imported this conf file and set the channel to the funny channel number it gave me and it all worked fine. I haven't played with the channel guide or the channel numbers as it is currently working.
