Everything looks fine on my pc monitor but when I connect my pc to my tv with the s-video out I get a black and white, scrolling picture.

My video card is an old nvidia card and my tv is a new sony.

Im not sure if adding: Option "TVOutFormat" "SVIDEO" is necessary in:/etc/X11/XF86Config-4.nvidia-tvout.sample /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 because it sort of works right now. If I added the line where does it go in the long list of things?

It could be a frequency setting wrong?

Also is there a way to switch from s-video to pc monitor and back again?

Thanks,
Mike

Can you provide the model of the graphics card?

Yeah, seriously, when you're asking hardware related issues, PLEASE! Tell us what the hardware is. Otherwise we're playing "Doctor it hurts."

TV out:
The first video card is a Micro-star MS-8835 NvideoGeforce 2 GTS Pro 64Meg. This card displays garbage immediately on startup and continue to all the time.

I have an old Voodo 3 3000 32Meg card. This works fine on bootup until the graphical menu appears. Then it displays garbage. When I blindly init a shutdown it works fine in text mode until it turns off.

Both cards work fine connected to my monitor.

Any ideas?

Mike

have you looked at the tvout page on the wiki? sounds like you haven't set your vertical refresh properly. for starters.
