Ok i've looked around and based off some commentary here, the wiki, and from the Myth Tv site itself im aware that you can Burn TO DVD shows that are recorded.

Now I have NOT yet put together the system, as i'm awaiting certain parts to come in from newegg :P but i've been reading as much as possible in order to try and get some kind of idea what possible issues i am going to run into.

One problem i've run across is in regards to the DVD burning. I havent found anyone describe whether this is an action that is EASY or not.

All the instructionals ive seen involve script running, command line, opening terminal windows.... and a bunch of other programs and commands im not all too familiar with.

Normally this would NOT be a problem, except this PVR system im putting together will SPECIFICALLY be for my GF. So I need to keep the functions as simple and as menu driven as possible.

Is there an add in or has someone made a package that DVD burning can be done directly from the basic Myth Tv menu's? If so, is this program/option, simple? I am looking to put together a bare bones ability in this aspect, no need for fancy or extra powerful tools. (preferably would like to be able to burn the shows onto DVD-RW so they can be played back on other DVD players in as simple a manner as possible)

Again on the above option i've only seen command line driven items. And multi-tiered step programs...

While looking around here for a possible answer i also ran into my second option. Would be to install Samba and share the drive/folder that contains the recorded shows on the homenetwork. Then to get her Windows Xp machine to recognize, surf, and copy/move these files onto her XP machine - and find a simple easy DVD authoring program to burn the dvd-rw's from there. Are there any issues i am not seeing here or that might pop up?

Again i would prefer to keep it all on the Knoppmyth box if possible, but if those options are too technical then i will have to tackle the windows option instead (which isnt preffered, but if it will bring the simplicity level in line i'll apply that as well)

you haven't looked too hard knoppmyth R5A22 includes two programs for burning shows to dvd nuv2disc (from the mythtv interface ( well in appearance anyways)) and mythdvdburn (from the mythweb interface) if there is any command line or scripting involved it is only to get it funtioning initially, if it's working properly everything can be done from gui from either option.

actually i was aware it had that functionality (thats what i had read)

What hadnt been made clear was that it was a run once for setup type deal. If thats the case then i guess it answers most of my questions :P

But thank you for the response, as i said i couldnt locate anyone actually stating that it works from within the gui itself until now :)
