How to I regenerate the /boot/initrd.gz ramdisk? I want one without a bootsplash image in it, so I can add my own bootsplash image.

Cheers
Simon

Did you try the obvious and search the forums for "bootsplash"? This seems to be pretty clear: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5243&highlight=bootsplash

Yeah, it's clear but not what I'm looking for tjc. Let me elaborate.

R5A22 has bootsplash already. That's great. Love the feature, don't love the bootsplash image. Seems that running the add_bootsplash.sh script or the splash function against an already bootsplashed initrd, doesn't replace the image (as I'd hoped) but just appends another image to the end of the ramdisk. It seems clear that when the boot process executes it loads up the first image it finds in the ramdisk, which of course is the original one, not the new one I've since appended. I just want to either a) remove all bootsplash images from the ramdisk (can't find a way to do that) or b) rebuild the ramdisk without the bootsplash image so I can follow the instructions you linked to (which i did find by searching btw before writing my post because as you say it's the obvious thing to do, and i've been a member of this forum long enough (like you) to recognise the value of search ;). Not that I'm saying I search like an expert, so I might have missed something.

Anyway, if you or anyone else know how to do either a) or b) above, please share. It will be much appreciated. If I have to rebuild the kernel in order to do it so be it, but I'll need to search for that :) as I can't remember exactly how I need to do that without breaking my myth box.

Cheers
Simon
