I'm running folding@home on a couple of my PCs here, and I was wondering if anyone ran these things on their KnoppMyth boxes?

As the box is mostly doing nothing all day it would be a good use of the CPU, but I'm uncertain what effect it will have on the running of the software. Any thoughts? Or should I just jump in and see how it goes? :)

i'm running folding@home on one of my knoppmyth frontend boxes and it seems to do fine. I don't notice any problems with dvd playback or recording playback.

I am curious as to the best way to start it up when the computer starts up (I don't know much about linux).

Would you suggest putting it in the bootmisc.sh or somewhere else?

No idea, I'm still a bit of a linux newbie too.

I'll give it a go on my Frontend/Backend box and see what happens...

if it doesn't have it's own init script bootmisc.sh is a proper place to start it.

There is a downloadable script here:
http://fahwiki.net/index.php/The_finstall_script
which will download the latest folding at home software and set it up as a service. It also supplies it with an init script.
