I had R5A16 up and running for a bit (finally) and I set it to record an instance of a show every time it came on, well my hard drive inevetably filled up when I didn't check it for a couple days.

Now when I boot up I get the message "GDM could not write to your authorization file. This could mean that you are out of disk space or that your home directory could not be opened for writing. In any case it is not possible to log in. Please contact your system administrator."

Now I have since logged in as root and deleted the mythtv/tv dir but I still can't boot up properly. does anyone know whats going on and how to fix this?

This was covered a few days ago... Only recorded programs are kept in /myth/tv. You want to check /var/logs... I'd suggest a search for greater details.
