I am having some issues getting my SPDIF out to work...

I decided to play around with the R5A22 version of Knoppmyth. In previous versions I would just unmute my optical out using Alsamixer and then enable SPDIF passthrough in myth. Well I tried it this time and I get no audio.

I then decided to try out running a DVD in a Term window using Xine. It works fine. I then changed the DVD player settings to match the ones I used to start Xine in the Term window and now no sound. I know there is a setting somewhere in Myth but I can't seem to find it.

I did see some information on enabling optical out on NForce motherboards, but I am using a Shuttle MB with a AC97 audio and I am not sure how much of this information I can use.

I also get no audio in my AVI's or Music, I suspect its a similar issue. Any ideas?

ok I did some more playing around and I got DVD and Video to run ok.

I went into the Xine settings and set all the outputs to go to iec958
I then added -alsa:device=iec958 to my mplayer settings.

Both these seem to work fine but I am not sure if I am bypassing something I shouldn't be.

Mythmusic still refuses to work though and I am not sure how to fix this. I tried to change the Audio Device to ALSA:spdif, ALSA:digital, and ALSA:iec958. Nothing.

Me again. I slept on it and played around with this this morning and still nothing.

I followed some of the instructions from the KnoppWiki for digital out http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page ... AudioHowTo but still nothing.

On thing that I think might be wrong is that when I do this:

root@mythtv:~# cat /proc/asound/pcm

The iec958 is not showing up in here at all. If mine is supposed to look like the examples then it should show up on here, but it doesn't.


I get sound out of my analog ports just fine. Infact even when I switch my music settings in myth itself to ALSA:iec958, ALSA:digital, ALSA:hw:0,0 or even ALSA:spdif the sound always come out of my analog and nothing out of my SPDIF port.


I am about out of ideas and not sure where to go. It seems that I can get everything to output to the SPDIF if I use an external command, but anything that relies on MythTV for the commands (Music, Live TV) will not output where I want it to go. Any help would be appreciated.
