I'm having some stuttering problems with the video playback on my M10000.

I've done a bit of reading today and will be trying a few things when I get home, however I've remoted into my machine whilst the missus was watching ready steady cook :) and acting as a frontend only the poor via CPU is showing 40% utilisation, does this suggest that my CLE266 mpeg2 decoding assistance isn't configured? I'm sure I've read 13% utilisation is the norm...

Help :(

It certainly sound like XvMC isn't enabled in MythTV. I do believe this has been covered on the forum before...

I'll certainly go have a search on XvMC cesman :) Thanks.

One point to note however is, I changed my display from 800x600 to a more PAL friendly 720x576 and now my playback is fantastic. It even passes the sky news ticker test :)

For future reference, I grabbed my modeline settings from here and read the Via Unichrome TV Output HowTo.

It just shows, a little bit of research goes a long way!

I tried doing a search for my particular problem but it returns 2770+ results. If someone has seen this before can you point me to an exact post?

I set up a diskless R5A22 epia M10000 front end and whenever I start watching live TV or a recording the video gets inverted to a greenish tint. The only way to restore proper color is to switch terminals and go back to X :( --- Other than that everything else is smooth.

Now I've read other posts on this forum that say to disable the DPMS option in the screen section of XF86Config-4. I haven't tried this yet BUT considering that this is diskless I will have to make this change everytime. Can anyone else confirm?

Thanks,

AC

Did you check the "Search for all terms" option? From the number of matches I'm guessing not... There's also the advanced Google search link that Liv2Cod provided: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all

That worked.... thanks - I'm not too familiar with the search functions. I normally don't have to use them.

Anyway yeh I went back into XF86Config-4 and changed the DPMS setting to false and restarted the xsession. This will have to be done on every boot... which kinda blows. Oh well I'll submit a feature request to have that line removed from the config and find out if it was deemed worthy on the next release.

Thanks EvilTwin.....

changes to the XF86Config-4 file only have to be done once. Nothing reverts that file back, not sure why it is you think it has to be done every boot.

I have no hard drive in this FE  --- unless I decide to go with a remote NFS root setup. I haven't looked down that road too much yet.
