Hi,

This evening I had set-up a few recordings before going out. The first one started immediately and the other 2 later on. I had also started a nuvexport to XviD of a previous recording.

I came back to find nothing recording (both of the 2 later shows should have been) and the schedule empty! The earlier show had finished and the only thing that happened was a mythfilldatabase run (log below) which failed.

As a further kick in the teeth the nuvexport had failed (trancode could not read a frame on the second pass - 37%), though I don't know if this was related.

The backend/frontend had not crashed/locked (I also checked the uptime - OK).
The MySQL database tables were checked and found to be OK.
The memory has been tested and is fine.
There is plenty of HD space.

I then went into the Media Center and deleted a couple of earlier recordings. Then the system sprung into life and started to record the 2 programs that it should have been at that time. Also, as if by magic, the schedule was full again!!

Did you manually start mythfilldatabase? On my box I 've got severe stuttering of recording and playback when manually starting mythfilldatabase (I'm using a PVR 150 and PVR 250). Just a guess: you were running multiple CPU intensive and read/write intensive processes in parallel (Pinnacle is software encoding I think), -> table locking during mythfilldatabase -> execution of query timed out -> assuming error -> hang...intervention (owner back home) -> table unlocking -> tables back online

I will never again run mythfilldatabase manually from a xterm during recording.
