I recently added a HD as /dev/hdc. Previously htc was my DVD. I adjusted the links in /dev for cdrom and dvd to point to hdd. I also checked the config of myth tv to make sure the settings weren't on /dev/hdc, and indeed they were not - they were usign the links.

What else must I change to move the get the "optical drive" menu items using the new location?

You probably shouldn't have manually adjusted anything without checking your log files first to see if/where linux assigned that new drive.

I know exactly where it put it. I mounted hdd and saw the VOB, and mounted hdc myself and saw the files on that disk.

then it's most likely a permissions issue. these issues have been covered here a few times, I would be more specific, but I've actually forgotten what group it's supposed to be assigned to.

Thanks. I'll look into that.

FYI:

hda = /
hdb = /media (mythtv content)
hdc = /home
hdd = dvd drive

Use the cd_link.sh script.
