OK I have just set up my Knoppmyth system, and first off I want to say Knoppmyth team you rock! It almost completely works out of the box!

My system is this:

Knoppmyth R5A26
Althlon 64 2800+
512mb ram
Nvidia 5200
Hauppauge PVR-150 1045
Dvd-burner
80gig pata hard drive
Nvidia Nforce 3 chipset

Like I said I have a pvr-150 card it came with what I believe is the sliver remote (40+ buttons). The number under that battery cover is a415 OH/8 1-3. The pvr-150 came with a IR blaster and receiver.

I have made sure they are plugged in correctly and seated as far in as possible. I changed the batteries in the remote. This did make it work for a minute, but then it stopped again. Even a reboot did not bring it back.

I have looked through the forums, but all the ideas seem to be aimed at earlier version of Knoppmyth. If I am missing something please point me in the right direction. If not Please, please give me a hand here.

Thanks!

i've tried downgrading ivtv, etc. nothing has worked for me.

Well I hope that someone will help us both out then....

I have found out that the remote does work occasionally, for about 5 minutes then stops. During its last period of usage I ctl-alt-f1’ed so that I could run irw. When I did I found out that it does see the remote as a Hauppauge 350. Which is fine, because all the buttons worked as expected.

I could get updates from cat /dev/lirc when I pressed a button, but event0-3 did nothing. And then for no apparent reason it stopped working again.

HELP where do I go from here to fix this, or do I just need to give up and buy a separate remote system?

Have you confirmed that LIRC is working after the problem occurs? Confirm (with irrecord for example) that the system is operational then check the codes that lirc is generating are correct. I had a similar problem and found that the codes were screwy (on my build, IR quit working after a reboot - if I rebooted again, it occasionally started working again until the next reboot). The fix was a regen of the codes in lircd.conf. See the wiki.

is there another way to see if lirc is still working?

I have times that the remote does not work at all...

I am still not clear on what you have tried... Do a ctrl-alt-F1, login as root, run irrecord, follow the prompts (if irrecord will not run, kill the pid identified). Do you get any response? If so, check the codes in the generated file of a few keys. In this case, the remote (and lirc) is working fine; it is the integration to the application (lircrc) that is the issue. Add (or change) those codes to lircd.conf and see if the remote continues to work for those keys. If not, then different issue.

What happens?
