I need/want a gui file manager to use on my Knoppmyth install, and so I used synaptic to install Krusader. It works well except all text is in German.

How do I set it to English? Is it picking up some system setting left over from Knoppix's KDE install?

Alternatively, what do you use as a file manager (other than the command prompt :-))?

OK. I didn't see that on the menu in fluxbox. Didn't realise other stuff might be there, even if not on the menu. I'll use that if I can't get Krusader into English.

Thanks for the quick reply

well mc probably wouldn't show up in the menu anyways as it's not really a graphical as in X filemanager, you run it from an xterm or console, and it's an ncurses file manager.

Some more info. Krusader runs in English if I run it as root, but in German if I run it as mythtv, or my other user under knoppmyth.

$ cd /home/mythtv/.kde/share/config/

$ vi kdeglobals
change "Country=us" and "Language=en" [or to whatever you want]

$ vi kxkbrc
and a less important change, "Layout=us" and "Model=pc101"

do the same for each user in their /home/*/.kde/share/config/ directory

also, this problem will reoccur if you create a new user unless you change the default files in /etc/skel/.kde/share/config/

party on!

Thanks for the info. I guess it's because Knoppix was German? Good to know how to fix it by hand though...
