Ok so your device is just a usb -> serial and linux recognizes it as a serial device. This should make life a little easier for you. Now just tweak lirc to use ttyUSB0 for input instead of ttyS0 or ttyS1.

Next best stop for you would be the knoppmythwiki. Take a look at this article -> LIRCHowTo

You shouldn't have to recompile lirc but only tweak the configs to look at the right device and then a little session with irrecord so you can bind the right keys to that logitech remote of yours.

Hit me up on yahoo - If you wanna do a remote session I'll see if I can get that 500 going for you - yahoo IM = ancosgrove

alright tnx :) always thought the irda would be the biggest problem, seems its the tv card :D

Any way i only got MSN and ICQ, u dont got a msn? tnx btw for all your help ..

/edit
seems ICQ can add yahoo users hmmmm

How long has it been since you've rebooted? Did you cut and paste or retype the command? If the later, there is whitespace in there that matters. You can also try extracting the same information from the messages file.

Code:
root@mythtv:~# sed -n '/= START INIT IVTV/,/=  END INIT IVTV/p' </var/log/dmesg | more
root@mythtv:~#

any way acosgrove is taking a look on my box now.. tnx for all of your help so far :)

Alright acosgrove have ben using 3-4 hours looking on my system, and we solved some errors.. we can now manualy see the tv whit my tv card, from mplayer. How ever, each time i try to see live tv, through Mythtv i just get "Unable to initilize video"

acosgrove, manager to find a log saying this error msg:

Code:
2005-12-04 05:13:49.386 Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV
2005-12-04 05:13:54.610 Changing from WatchingLiveTV to None

We have turned off VBL, we have checked that its set to pal, under mythtv-setup

Code:
tv format: Pal
VB format: None
channel frewuency table: Europe-west

Does any one got some ideas on what is going on here? as I dont got a clue on whats wrong here... :(

do you have a default channel set? That gave me issues.

Yes we did that.

/edit
We think it can be a PAL issue, althought we are sure we sat everything to pal...

Bizarroland... Try this alternative. It's not perfect, but it's better than the naive one:
Code:
egrep 'ivtv|tveeprom' /var/log/dmesg

trying an a16 instalation instead, we found out it was the hardware decoder in the via board that made the problem with the tv..
