Does anyone have MAME working on R5A26? Mine just flickers. There seem to be lots of threads that dead-end. Are people getting it to work, or just giving up? I modified my history path, no dice. I've got the CATVER.ini file, I've got several ROMs, it finds them, but the screen just flicks quick and comes right back.

Does anyone have this working on R5A26? Knowing this, helps me figure out where to look next.
Thanks,
Chris

It should work. Sorry, I cannot provide greater details as work has me rather busy. That and I'm not running R5A26 as I'm working on smoothing out things for the next release.

Understood. I'm just trying to figure out if other people have it working or not, and if so, if they had to make any further mods. If it's working for them, I must be doing something wrong (strong possibility). If not, then I'll dig deeper and find a solution, and if I do, I'll write it up.

I have R5A26 and got mame working on it. It was a fresh install on new hardware and, at first, after setting everything up for mame I got the flicker you mention. Then I ran mythfrontend in an xterm to see what the command line for mame was and try it manually. I established that the --joystick parameter was the culprit as it was passing the value 4 and I don't have such a joystick connected. Then I updated the value that myth passes to the joystick parameter in the database to 0 (for no joystick) and it worked! As I do have a USB joystick (see this post: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7219) I set the value to 1 (the value can be from 0 to 4). Anyway, here's the code to update the setting:
Code:
mysql -u root -e "update mythconverg.mamesettings set joytype=0"

I see now, that this is actually documented in the MYTH setup document. Doh! Sorry.
