I have/had Knoppmyth R5a26 working GREAT! (tv out,web burn, mame..ALL the goodies.)I wanted to install the retro theme and got lazy and installed Nautilus file manager. It crashed on me and now I cant get out of Nautilus. It comes up when I boot everytime. Used to be able to click both mouse buttons at the same time to get the desktop menu, but thats gone now to. I have found no way of exiting from the darn thing!
Any ideas?

Switch to a console (ctrl-alt-f1)
Log in as root
Find the pid of the Nautilus program using something like

Then kill it using this (where pid is the number you obtained from the previous step).

When I alt-ctrl-f1 I get a blank black screen and cant input anything. I am on tv only..do I have to hook up a monitor to see the console curser? Also ..dumb question, How do I get a | with the keyboard? (cut and pasted from your message to get it here)

Or even simpler:

Doh! You don't happen to use bootsplash do you? There are known problems with the console on TV out when using bootsplash.
If you have a monitor, you could try that. Do you have another PC on your network that you can ssh into your myth box from? That might be easier.
That depends on your keyboard. On mine, it is above the backslash character so shift-backslash gets it.

I tried both ways..it pops right back up again. It just wont die! I putty'ed in and xtemed in from the mythbox. Quits then pops back up like a bad dream.

I dont have bootsplah installed (actually read the warning )
I also would like to thank you and tjc, cesman and xsecrets (sure Im missing a few people)for all the help u 2 have been to alot of people on here. Ive learned more about this mythbox from answers given by u guys in forum search's

The flux "theme" I picked when it came up might be the cause of not letting me quit it properly, when I changed it,nautilous lost its X in the corner of the windows and the mouse "2 button click" nautalus went away.

edit...hmmm I see 2 nautilous named processes running. I will try and kill them both

You could always uninstall it. Then it wont pop back up.

well, no luck so far. Tried to uninstall, wont let me..will post error message
