Ok, I just realized that when I upgraded from A18 to A22 a couple of months back, that I never set SAMBA and NFS to start by default. So, I went through the usual routine that I have done for the past 2 years after updating to get these working. No luck. So I turned to the Wiki, went through the steps which were the same ones I did from memory, but followed them step by step just to be safe. After searching through the forums, I feel pretty stupid having to ask for help on this one. It is basic, but for some dumb reason, I just can't get it up. Client machines time out when trying to access the exports or samba shares. I have done this many times before with out any trouble, but I am stumped this time. FTP works, networking works, this box has been up with A22 since it was released, but shares just won't work.

After executing "/etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server restart", this is what my syslog showed:
Code:
Dec 23 22:41:11 mythtv rpc.mountd: Caught signal 15, un-registering and exiting.
Dec 23 22:41:11 mythtv kernel: nfsd: last server has exited
Dec 23 22:41:11 mythtv kernel: nfsd: unexporting all filesystems
Dec 23 22:41:11 mythtv kernel: RPC: failed to contact portmap (errno -5).
Dec 23 22:41:12 mythtv exportfs[11164]: /etc/exports [1]: No 'sync' or 'async' option specified for export "*:/myth".   Assuming default behaviour ('sync').   NOTE: this default has changed from previous versions
Dec 23 22:41:12 mythtv exportfs[11164]: /etc/exports [2]: No 'sync' or 'async' option specified for export "*:/myth/video/Movies".   Assuming default behaviour ('sync').   NOTE: this default has changed from previous versions
Dec 23 22:41:42 mythtv kernel: NFSD: Using /var/lib/nfs/v4recovery as the NFSv4 state recovery directory
Dec 23 22:41:42 mythtv kernel: NFSD: recovery directory /var/lib/nfs/v4recovery doesn't exist
Dec 23 22:41:42 mythtv kernel: NFSD: starting 90-second grace period

When trying to connect to the share from a client machine, it times out and the log shows:
Code:
Dec 23 22:45:42 mythtv rpc.mountd: authenticated mount request from 192.168.0.17:1008 for /myth (/myth)
Dec 23 22:45:42 mythtv kernel: nfsd: request from insecure port (192.168.0.17:51649)!
