running R5A26 and can't play DVDs. I put in a DVD, then use my remote to select Optical Drives/Play DVD. Xine starts up, then something flashes quickly on the screen, then I'm returned to the myth menus. After that, the DVD drive is 'locked' (I can't eject). The Xine screen passes too quickly to see any error messages. How do I go about fixing/troubleshooting this? Does Xine save an error log somewhere?

Xine output is not saved anywhere, but because MythTV is run from your window manager, try looking in
Code:
/home/mythtv/.xsession-errors

You could also try running xine directly in an xterm window. I don't know what exact command your install is set to use, but I use something like:
Code:
xine -pfhq --auto-scan dvd

I just installed the most release release of Knoppmyth and am having the exact same problems with Xine not playing any DVDs. An error window pops up too fast to read what the error says, and Xine exists. Anyone else know what could be causing this problem?

If you are attempting to played encrypted DVDs, KnoppMyth doesn't support this out the box...

If you've got two optical devices the cd_link.sh script can get confused. Search for the script name for detailed walk throughs on how to troubleshoot this.

Sometimes you need to look for examples of shell scripts for answers. I would look in /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3 for help.
