I am trying to help my brother setup a knoppmyth box and we have run into a problem with the video card.

The motherboard he picked up uses PCI-e for the video system and he got a Gigabyte nvidia 66256 card. We have knoppmyth R5A16 installed and configured and all seems to be working, but when we try to watch tv we get a blank screen and 30 sec later back to the menu.

I checked /var/log/dmesg, /var/log/messages, and /var/log/syslog but found nothing. The only thing I have been able to find is that xvinfo reports no adapters found. I have tried to install the nvidia drivers with the included scripts

install-nvidia-7174-debian.sh
also tried the new 8174 driver but after installing ANY of these drivers the screen goes blank and the machine seems to hang. There is no response to attempts to switch to a console (CTRL+ALT+F2) and on reboot the machine hangs with blank screen when X tries to start. I have to restore my original XF86Config-4 file to get back in.

Has anyone gotten one of the Geforce 6600 PCI-e cards working, or have suggestion on where to look for problems (which log files). That failing does anyone have a recommedation for a PCI-e video card that plays nicely with knoppmyth?

This seem like more of a MythTV issue than a video card issue. Perhaps a search of the forum?
