Ok, I've read the forums, and the wiki, but when my remote drops, it never comes backup, I have tried running both the commands
ivtvctl -d /dev/video0 --reset-ir
and
ivtvctl --reset-ir
and have added
* * * * * root ivtvctl --reset -ir
to my crontab
But when my remote dies, I can't even control myth with my keyboard!!!
HELP!

1. for the cronjob, make sure you run "crontab -e" as root, and take out "root" and add "/usr/local/bin/" before ivtvctl. so the line will look like "* * * * * /usr/local/bin/ivtvctl --reset-ir"
2. I had a similar problem for a while...What I can say is: Make sure you do a completely fresh install. I don't know if that's what you want to do or did, but when that was happening for me it was when I tried following all the stuff on the forums and wiki. Then I finally did a flat fresh install, added the cronjob stuff, and it works as expected (it drops but the cronjob brings it back up).
That's all I can say. It seems the PVR-150 has become a flakey card, but I do feel safe in knowing that WHEN all this crap is finally figured out it's a good investment...

Well, sadly, before you posted this, I fiddled with some stuff and broke my install. So I tried installing again, but I must be doing something wrong, since I can't get the WatchTV to work, I get some generic error about a problem with the video playback, and I have no clue what to do
argh!

ok, quesiton, does it kind of start to play than just crap out and give an error saying it can't play it back? I had this problem when I installed a PC VGA to TV adapter (little box that downgrades VGA signals to be easily and possibly more clearly displayed on nearly any TV with a composite or s-video cable) between my knoppmyth box and my tv. It was pretty strange at first.
IF this is your problem...I had to reinstall to get it to work again. I know I keep saying reinstall, but that's what I do when stuff doesn't work. All I ever do with my box after install is re-input my recording schedule (only a few shows, really) and reset my sound mixer settings so it's not a problem for me. I understand a lot of people hate reinstalling though... I do know that the problem that I described above is related to X11 configs (/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 files). Maybe you'll want to try mixing and matching those (there's a few, just cp XF86Config-4 to something else and cp another to that).
Maybe someone else has ideas, though...

I have tried reinstalling, it just says that a problem is detected when playing back video and I get a black screen, sometimes there's a blue line along the left edge of the screen.

It also does the same on recordings, it records 'nothingness' just a black screen with no sound
wtf, it was working earlier
It's like the Hauppauge 150 isn't working...

Ok, finally got a signal, but it's not changing channels, I think that's because I didn't associate a guide with tuner0 in the setup. I did that, and I've modified my crontab with "* * * * * /usr/local/bin/ivtvctl --reset-ir" to hopefully get the remote working.
I'm performing a reboot right now, so...
/crosses fingers

it should
I'm still waiting on the complete ivtv, stable, "alright guys, this FREAKING works now!" fix, but for now the cronjob is working. Outside of occasionally flipping through the channels and being stuck on the "We" channel or whatever for about 40 seconds, it's dandy like candy.

Now all I need to do is figure out how I can get it to store the files on a network share rather than the local hard drive...but that will be for another day.

ARGH!
So it all appeared to be working good, the remote even appeared to work for a few hours. So I assumed the cronjob was working. Then the remote died. I waited, it still didn't work, waited some more...still nothing.
So I hit ALT-X to bring up a console, typed in "/usr/local/bin/ivtvctl --reset-ir" and the remote still doesn't work
This is so very frustrating!

Don't forget to try typing IRW at a prompt and then testing the remote. Anything you hit will show up. This will rule out whether or not it is configured properly to send the commands to myth. If you see nothing on the screen after a button press, then you know it is the remote or ivtv driver.

Does R5A30 use the same version of IVTV as R5A26? There is an IVTV version (newer that the IVTV that came with R5A26) that supposedly has a patch included to fix the PVR150 issues.

I believe if memory serves, it's using version 0.4.0?
Sadly, for some reason, my gateway isn't letting my ssh in at the moment yet it's still serving webpages So I can't say for sure, but I'm 99% sure it was 0.4.0.

Ok, the remote now works, but only a handful of the buttons
I've tried redoing the lircd.conf file and stuff, but then I always end up completely breaking it and the remote won't work at all.
