I am having the same problem with R5A30. I have my default recording profile set to transcode after recording. After transcoding fails, if I look in /var/log/mythbackend.log I get the following:

    2006-01-25 14:30:34.126 New DB connection, total: 2
    2006-01-25 14:30:34.160 Transcoding from /myth/tv/1017_20060125140000_200601251$
adding pes stream at pid 0x51 with type 2
adding pes stream at pid 0x54 with type 129
adding pes stream at pid 0x55 with type 129
    2006-01-25 14:30:34.539 Transcode: Couldn't find profile for : MPEG-2
2006-01-25 14:30:34.544 Transcoding aborted, no profile found.
    2006-01-25 14:30:34.557 Transcoding /myth/tv/1017_20060125140000_20060125143000$
    2006-01-25 14:30:34.728 Deleting /myth/tv/1017_20060125140000_20060125143000.nu$

Am I supposed to set up an MPEG-2 profile? How do I do this? I have recording profiles, but they are only the standard "Default, Live TV, etc". No reference to MPEG2 or "From MPEG-2" as I have read in other posts.

Thanks in advance...

I'm going to start off by saying that I am no expert.

With that said, I do want to see if I can clarify and perhaps point you toward some info that helped me.

If you are trying to have the myth interface do the transcoding, check out this post:
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... nown+codec

The error is a little different, but I think this is the info that will help with the transcoding.
Quote:
When I go to setup -> Tv Settings -> Recording Profiles -> Transcoders I get two transcoders "From RTjpeg/MPEG" and "From MPEG2"

The transcode used in the myth interface does not seem to create an avi, but rather a smaller .nuv file.

If you are trying to use nuvexport --transcode, (which can be used to generate avi's) please list the steps you are taking and what choices etc...)

thanks,

LOoOky,

The post you reference is exactly the one I was referring to. I am trying to have Myth do the transcoding. I want to make my the NUV files smaller. I have a DVB card, but my TV is not HD, so I don't need the NUV files to have 1920x1080 resolution, less than half of that is plenty for my config. I would like Myth to transcode these files down, and might as well convert to mpeg4 while it's at it.

Originally in:

I had nothing. I then created a new profile group called "Default". Under this profile group I have Default, Live TV, High Quality, and Low Quality options. I configured "Default" to automaticallly transcode after recording to mpeg4.

This made no difference. Before and after I did this, I get the error message in the log when myth attempts to transcode. In facut it doesn't seem to matter what I do with recording profiles, I always get the same error. I now have three different profile groups all with the four configs under them, but there is no way (as far as I can tell) to create a transcoding profile...or delete a recording profile group.

So back to my question, how do I create this "From MPEG-2" profile, or what exactly is Myth looking for and how do I givie it what it needs to do the transcoding?

Thanks again,

vtdstein95

I don't believe you should have to create the recording profiles for transcoding; they should already be there. At least, they were there by default for me back when I was using an older version of KnoppMyth.

Over in the thread, "Transcoders Profile Missing," some of us are trying to resolve the problem of missing transcoder recording profiles.

Just in case you haven't seen it yet, there is one successful case being reported in this thread: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=47436

It would probably be worth a look.

thanks,

LOoOky,
Thanks, that did the trick...have recording & transcoding profiles now.

Unfortunatly the upgrade to R5A30.2 broke some other stuff on my setup...off to look for fixes...
