I just got a new pvr-500 in. It has the Samsung tuner, so I upgraded to ivtv-0.4.2 and added the firmware to the hotplug directory, etc. All's fine on startup: it assigns the Samsung tuner correctly.

So, I finally got a clean picture on live tv, but it consistently hangs after a second or two and drops me to the "Error encountered while displaying video" screen. The following messages are printed when I run mythfrontend from an xterm:

Code:
Remote Encoder not responding.
[date] WriteStringList: Bad socket.
[date] ReadStringList: Bad socket.
[date] Waited too long for decoder to pause.

The above lines repeat over and over. Any ideas?

I answered my own questions. One of the steps in the how-to I followed creates an extra copy of the old firmware that I forgot to delete. Ivtv reverted to the old version.

Thanks anyway.
