I always use the search lists myself but you should be able to navigate with the arrow keys. The web page I refered you to earlier would include this little detail...

like i get to the screen to select some things the defaults are
<DO not record this program>
<scheduling options>
<storage options>
<post recording processing>
<program details>
then some other stuff you get the idea. I set it to record only this showing. Save these settings. Then i check upcoming recordings only to find nothing there. wtf?

How does a "set top box" come into play with this area? I want to use one, i hooked up the Card's TV-in to TV-out of my "set top box". When i say "set top box" i mean the cable box i got from my provider for additional channels, it is also capable of reading many more channels than my PVR500. When i hooked it up i got a weird mix of rainbow colors, rather than the usual white/black fuzz mix. The card works with cable directly going to tv-in from my wall.

Are you kidding? You obviously haven't been paying attention or doing your own homework. Search for "IR blaster" or "control cable box", or any of a dozen other things like that.

BTW - I've generally stopped answering your questions because it's like trying to empty a large lake with a small bucket. I've even started to wonder if you're a troll or a 'bot just looking for attention. Whatever the reason, the bottom line is that you've exceeded the limits of my patience and sympathy, especially since you either can't be bothered to help yourself or are beyond help.

Thanks for the creative comments tjc. On a more serious note, thanks for any help you have provided me with. I searched for a number of phrases including "set top box" "control cable box" (just because you mentioned it). Most of the posts get very specific and detailed and alot of them use different connectors then i do, i'm talking about tv-out alot of the posts were about optical connections and were specifically aimed to get HD-channels working. Other posts just contained some phrases but weren't about the actual topic i was looking for help on. I'm not asking you to do all the work for me, i'm asking for help, if you don't want to help me then make some post about how stupid i am, if it helps you. If i missed something in my search link me to the post and i'd be more than happy to read it as i'm looking for help to get this set up.

Also i think "IR blaster" is Infared Blaster, which is something for setting up a remote control, i'm talking about getting the cable signal from my "set-top box", using cable-out.

What kind of STB (set top box) do you have? Do you have Comca$t?

I would if possible request for a DCT-6200 or DCT-6412 (dual tuner) as these have firewire ports and would eliminate the need for analog tuners. These are HD tuners by nature but will record SD and I have seen other posts where people have been very successful using them. I just got a DCT-6200 myself but have not had the opportunity to hook it to my master backend

Now don't get me wrong I have 2 pvr-500's myself and love them... but with everything switching to digital I'm kinda sorry I dumped ~ $400 that could have funded another couple of SATA drives for aggregate storage.

Oxalic do still you need your mother to hold your hand when you go to the bathroom?

How do you control you set top box normaly? With an IR remote control. Wouldn't it be great if there was a way mythtv could pretend to be that remote control in order to control your set top box? Guess what that is what an IR blaster does. It allows mythtv to send the IR remote control commands to your set top box.

Yes, that'd be good. But is it vital in order to get this working? Shouldn't i get some sort of signal even if i cant control the box?
