More of my wonderful 2¢ ... throwing yourself into a project like this is a great way to get acclimated to Linux. I learned more about Linux than I expected, and was somewhat disappointed when everything started working as I then knew my quest was coming to an end. Just one of many ways to look at this as a "cup half full" deal.

Let's have a look at the facts, firstly KnoppMyth forum details:

No one is forcing you to use MythTV or KnoppMyth, it is a free choice of free people. Let me ask you this question, before you buy a car do you reasearch the details of the car, what features it includes, does it have those extra cup holders that you want. Does it have an engine that I can service or will I need to take it to a mechanic.

As a programmer it is disappointing to hear that you could not give a flying fat rat's ass about developing the system to do what you want, only whinge about it.

Cesman and everyone on this forum is all for constructive feedback, I am yet to hear any from you. So drop dead and would someone please terminate his account so we can get on with supporting the real users of KnoppMyth.

Calm down, crikey! What's it like being you? If the mods don't allow calm, measured criticism then I'm sure THEY will wipe the topic at their own discretion not at the behest of a very rude fellow poster. I've been very diplomatic and constructive in my criticism, such nasty responses as above do nothing for the credibility of the project. This forum is about KnoppMyth which is what I was talking about, not character assassinating or wishing death upon fellow posters!

I have decided I shall purchase a standalone freeview recorder for TV duties, but play with KnoppMyth for fun in my spare time. I tried xbmc myth out (guessed setup, instructions are awful!) on R5A30 (doesn't work with R5A22 BTW - diff protocol 18 vs 15 in xbmcmyth) but it seems a bit cludgey. Using the mvpmc as a mythtv front end looks fascinating though, Gonna have have a go at that sometime.

Well good luck to the developers, I know you do hard work, just cos it ain't my cup o' tea don't mean you ain't respected - word!

You haven't been offering calm criticism, you've been complaining about problems which have absolutely nothing to do with KnoppMyth. People reach the conclusion you're either trolling or have no clue. For example:
-MythTV Menu structure
-Linux Drivers (Video, Capture card, SATA)

There isn't only 'one thread of constructive criticism', people post this drival repeatedly.

This ends here... I should have locked this before it got this ugly. I don't think I've ever locked a thread before... Generally I'll let whomever say what they need to say no matter how wrong I think there are...

I try to make KnoppMyth the best I can. I try to add support for all types of hardware, some work right out the box, some don't. I don't have the budget of the MCE dev team or Snapsteam's team. Hell, I have no budget to speak of.

If something doesn't work for you, don't come on the forum and state you aren't impressed. State what doesn't work, provide some details and let us work together to try and make it work.
