I am totally new to posts in the group although I have been lurking an reading for months. Linux skills are weak but hey I'm learning.

Initially I was trying to fix the Hauppauge Silver remote so it would a) work b) change channels on my Satellite Box. The system has been operational for around 3 weeks now.
In all of that time until two days ago the thing worked great. All I had left was to get the Remote control functional and then have it control the STB. In all of this setup these lists have been great in finding answers.

I came to a Lengthy discussion on fixing the remote issues and in there it was definitely to others with similar problems to upgrade IVTV and the PVR firmware to the Latest.

I did that but couldn't get the capture card to recognize. Apparently there are some issues with when Hotplug initializes. So I went backwards to the older IVTV as the wife(who has decided this thing is great) had several programs already setup to record that night.

Anyway, to make a long story short I was able to get IVTV backdown to 0.4.0 but apparently the Encoder Firmware is the newer version as reported in the logs.

I found Video Capture was excellent previous to this change, but now I get multiple stutters at varying times through out a program and digital artifacts showing from time to time.

I am willing to go any direction here if it will resolve the capture problem. If I could find the older firmware that would get me back to build start.

Running R5a30.1 at this time.
Here are my IVTV outputs before and after.
Any help is appreciated.
This is pre-trying to get the Remote to work. Although I have now foudn I was closer than I thought.

This is the big difference I see in the new one.

I don't know what to tell you, I used the procedure that I wrote up on the wiki (see the bottom of the Compileivtv page) and it worked. Did you forllow that or something else?

http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv
"Directions for upgrading R5A22 or later to 0.4.2 for the PVR-150 and PVR-500 fixes."

I followed that set of directions. I found them easy to follow, just didn't work for me.

Also when I went over to IVTV afterweards is where I found the discussion related to "Firmware not being found" specifically they are discussing an issue with the Hotplug not being ready when IVTV is looking for it.

I'll keep looking... Thanks!

Ok, I seem to have fixed this although my IVTV is still at 0.4.0
Basically, I found another copy of the Firmware on the System the Hcwflcn.rom and copied it in to lib/modules as the ivtv-fw.enc.bin I
t is still reported as the Encoder revision: 0x02050032 but is definitely seems to have fixed the video stutter problem.
The wife is much happier now.
I have run from minimum bit rate to maximum and low res to maximum 720x480 and it works good.

It defintely seems to have somehow gotten corrupted or something.
Once I learn how to see creation dates and filesizes then maybe I can tell if there are other differences.

Now onto fixing my IR Blaster to make it control the Sat box.

Thanks!

To list the files:
Code:
ls -al /lib/modules
ls -al /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-*

To compute an MD5 checksum
Code:
md5sum /lib/modules/ivtv* /lib/modules/Hcw*.ROM /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-*
