What happend is I reinstalled R5A16 and for some reason the preview doen'st work the same as it id last time. The last install was R5A16 and it just worked , so I don't understand why it wouln't work this time. R5A15 had the same problem too. I know it is small problem , but I working before and it was cool.

I have the exact same problem with R5A16. Were you able to fix it?

Perhaps you've installed the i586 debs what weren't built w/ MMX?

I think that might be it. I selected the i586 debs when installing knoppmyth, but I don't remember anything about MMX.

Can you point me to where these MMX debs might be located so that I may download them?(Don't wanna do a reinstall). Will it be ok to force-overwrite the existing mythtv rpms with the MMX ones?

My existing mythtv debs are:

0.18.1-2_km_i586

There are no MMX debs... There is a possibility the i586 debs you install were not compiled. In newer releases, the i586 debs are compiled with MMX.

Can I install those debs in my currently installed release w/out a full upgrade?

Upgrade or recompile MythTV (source is in /usr/src/mythtv).

Id prefer to just get the relevant debs & install them, but will recompile if necessary.
Dont wanna do a Knoppmyth "auto-upgrade" as I'll lose my root partition & it took me three weeks to get all the 3rd party stuff like lirc, ivtv 0.4's PVR 350 tv-out or whatever I need to work there & I dont wanna risk breaking anything even if I back up all my config files manually.

I dont appear to have the source in /usr/src/

ls -l /usr/src/
mythtv@mythtv:/usr/src$ ls
MPlayer-1.0pre6a_knoppmyth.diff lircrc
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1.run nuv2disc-latest.tgz
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7174-pkg1.run nv6629.diff
aviman_0.9pre5.tar.bz2 pcHDTV-1.6.tar.gz
hauppauge-lirc-remote pcHDTV-2.0.tar.gz
ivtv-0.2.0-rc3j.tgz projectx_0.82.1.02_b2.tar.gz
ivtv-0.3.3u remotes_lircrc.tar.bz2
ivtv-0.4.0 wis-go7007-linux-0.9.4.tgz
kernel-source-2.6.11.9-chw-2 zm-1.21.0.tar.gz
lirc-0.7.0
mythtv@mythtv:/usr/src$

Id compile mythtv from SVN, but, as I understand it, I'll lose the knoppmyth customizations if I compile from SVN (thats what the howto in knoppmythwiki.org says). Id be mighty grateful if you could point me to a howto on properly compiling the source that the knoppmyth people used in Knoppmyth w/out losing any special features specific to knoppmyth (like any special keybindings or whatever).

Plus, what should I do to any config files in the source to get this MMX thing to work?

Hey thanks for the link man! Looks like upgrading to i686 was the key~Now the preview clips look fine!

Just one wierd thing. I didn't have any "mythtv/" dir in "/usr/src", so I mounted the knoppmyth cd, then modprobed the cloop device & mounted the KNOPPIX image in there & copied the /usr/src/mythtv off of there to the root /usr/src/ dir, then ran the "install-i686" script & it worked fine.

modprobe cloop file=/cdrom/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX
mount -o ro /dev/cloop /KNOPPIX
cd /KNOPPIX
cd usr/src/
umount /KNOPPIX
rmmod cloop
install-i686

restarted mythfronetnd on my tv.
happiness!
