I have my box setup to auto-flag commercials and then transcode.

Commericial flagging completes and transcode always fails. I checked the log and there is no indication of why it fails. It will complete a certain amount of transcoding, and then start over at 0%. It never posts any sort of error to the log. After 5 or 6 attempts at transcoding it will just stop and delete the .tmp file.

I had this issue with 30.1. I just wiped the box, installed 30.2, and am having the same issue.

Folks there is a couple of very recent threads that have the same issue. Use the search button as they have resolutions.

From memory it is something to do with profiles.

Checked those threads while I was till running 30.1. I ended up hosing the box trying to play around with fixing it.

Now the issue is even weirder. It fails some of the transcodes.

I removed the mythbackend.log file when I was playing around, is there anyway to get the system to start re-creating the log file?[/i]

Restarting it should do that if you didn't hose the permissions on the /var/log/mythtv/ directory. Run the following as root:

[ -d /var/log/mythtv/ ] || mkdir /var/log/mythtv
chown mythtv:mythtv /var/log/mythtv /var/log/mythtv/*
chmod g+ws /var/log/mythtv/
ls -al /var/log/mythtv
/etc/init.d/mythtv-backend restart

Ok, my transcoder issues do not have anything to do with missing profiles. It seems to be able to transcode sometimes. When it doesn't, it does not spit out any errors.

The file shows up as an error in the backend status, and the file size is still 2.2GB like an untranscoded MPEG2 file.
