I just downloaded and installed KNOOPMyth on an ASUS P4S8X-MX system and I must say it was much easier than I had expected. Thanks for the good work.
Everything worked fine until I rebooted the computer. Now the remote control on the PVR150 will not respond. Everything else works and I can use the keyboard to move around in Mythtv but I would prefer to use the remote control. I have not seen anything specifically addressing this in the forum and was hoping to get some assistance on resolvign this. I looked throught the messages file in the log directory and did not find any errors.
Please let me know what you need to assit me in resolving this.

What kind of remote are you using?

try opening a terminal and running irw as root.

Then hit buttons on the remote and see if there is any output..

thanks,

When I type irw from root and press the remote buttons nothing shows up on the screen. I am using the remote that came along with the PVR150. Everything worked until I rebooted the computer. It seems that whatever takes the commands from the remote and turns it into keyboard commands is not starting on boot.

I've got no idea what KNOOPMyth is, is that kind of like KnoppMyth? You're not providing enough details here. What version did you install? Did you check the md5sum? What other hardware do you have? ...

Hello John,

I've got to go with tjc on this one. Details are really important.

Maybe I should have been more specific. There are several different kinds of remotes/recievers that we could be trying to help out with. There are some PVR-150's that come with the mceusb remotes, others come with a hauppage remote. Unless we know what remote we are talking about, there's just too many possibilities.

---------------------------
Here's one example:
I installed 5A26 (I'm now running 30.2)
I have the mceusb remote. It came with the USB transceiver.
After I install Knoppmyth, the remote doesn't work.
Even before I figured out how to make it work, there was a little red LED on the transceiver that let me know it was getting a keypress.
I could get it to start by running lircd as root and irw would then show the keypresses on the screen. After that I could start mythfrontend and use the remote... ...at least until I rebooted.
---------------------------

What reciever are you using, is it USB, serial, etc... Model numbers might be helpful too.

When you typed in "irw" did it just give you another prompt or did it go to the next line like it was waiting for something to happen.

In addition, have you checked connections to make sure cables haven't just worked loose?

I have a working installation of R5A16 that has the same problem. For some reason LIRC is not starting automatically when I boot, so whenever I reboot (which is not very often) I just have to start LIRC and restart gdm. Try this:

(as root)

lircd
/etc/init.d/gdm restart
