I use the playstation controller with a connection to the parallel port for data and a USB port for power.

I use an X-Box controller with my knoppmyth setup. It worked like a charm for compatibility. You will have to do the setup of the controller with each emulator. That shouldn't be two hard. ZSNES is really easy as it has a graphical config interface built into the program. Do a google search for setting up emulators, but I think the one I followed was on the Myth Wiki site. My hardest part has been configuring it all up right so that the full screen is used on my EPIA. I have given up for the meen time on that.

The x-box controller module is built and ready to go. Mine loaded up as soon as I plugged the pad in.

Xbox controllers work really well. I spliced my own cable together and just plugged it in. To make sure it was recognized as a joystic, do
Code:
cat /dev/inputs/js0

and press buttons/move analog sticks on the controller. If you see stuff, it is working. You can also do lsusb to be sure it recognized it as an xbox controller. Som cheapo brand controllers might not be recognised, and I'm not sure how to tell linux what it is.
