You need to provide more details, or your hardware and what you're doing. You shouldn't run out of disk that fast unless you tried to do this with a ridiculously small HD. PVR recordings using the default profile take about 2.2Gb/hour. Before the advent of 0.19 live TV used a "ring buffer" file in /cache/cache (normal recordings go into /myth/tv), basically when you hit the limit you go back to the beginning of the buffer and overwrite previously recorded stuff. Did you check that you've got the size set right?

I was actually in good shape until I changed:
"directory to hold recordings"
and
"directory to hold live-tv buffers"
Since then I haven't been able to watch tv and I don't remember what the default settings where. I'll tackle the space usage after I get tv working again.
Hardware:
1.3 pentium 4
Asus something or other MB
640 MB ram
gforce mx4000 vidoe card
pvr 150
20gb drive (300gb drive on its way)
soubdblaster live (latest 7.1 $30 sound card)

They're in my previous message:
/cache/cache - live tv buffers
/myht/tv - recordings

Sorry about that. I must have ignored them because the original paths had something to do with /var/lib and something else that wasn't a usual storage area. I try them now.

I'm finding that I have to delete .lock files manualy to get tv back. /myth/tv will be empty, then I'll reboot and a lock file will be there, and a program will be back in my recorded videos menu. I'll delete it and tv will be back. Reboot and the deleted program will be back along with another,a nd deleting them from the manage screen doesn't delete them. Select delete, but they never go away.
Then my remote will work sometimes, then it won't. It's not every other time either. 4 boots it will work, 3 it won't. 2 it will, 5 it won't.
This is starting to be alot of work. Thanks all the same for you rhelp though!!

I think you've officially reached the point where I would format, reinstall, and start from scratch.
Of course, you'll have a much better understanding of how this all works if you do tough it out and manually fix whatever is broken.
Hope you get it up and running, I'm very happy to have my box in action.
Thanks again for the help TJC, much appreciated.

I thought about re-installing but I'm surfing tv right now - so far so good. Having Myth isn't critical, so I have time to play with it. I'll give it a chance and see if I can't work through some of these problems. It's much more fun now that I can get away with leaving it hooked up. I'm glad yorus is running Rando.
Ditto on your help tjc, it's nice to have someone who knows a bit and can help.

Myth will refuse to delete entries in the DB if it can't find the file on disk. This is actually a safety/sanity feature, since recordings are often on a different partition which may not be mounted. If you've got dangling DB entries you can "touch" the file ( man touch for details) and then delete it as usual using the GUI.

Thanks tjc,
I'm wondering if I need to empty the database and start from scratch. When my tv watching ability goes away, I get it back by removing files. So I'm thinking when it says "all available inputs are being used" it has to do with the lock files or a flag in the database?.
I really need to look at the database and watch what happens to that and the video directories when I do things through the myth frontend. Maybe I will find something that will help me figure this out. Between that, the lock files, and not rebooting so much, I think this will turn out well.
Maybe there is log file that is capturing the non-deletes, and whats going on when I get the all inputs used message?

Add me as another person who is confused and has this card. I am to the point where i have the new ivtv drivers installed and its recognized as tuner, as opposed to tuner0 and tuner1. What is my next step to getting this to work?
Thanks
Lucas
