i hate to dredge up this old thread, but as i'm running R5a26 and the problem doesn't seem to have been resolved yet, i figured i'd attempt to bring it to light again so that someone with more experience/intelligence/bravery (whatever you need to tell yourself... ;)) might take a look into it...

i also experience this sort of problem with an XP 2200 and 512M of ram. myth is almost constantly recording something as i use nuvexport to create my own music video library, but even before i started that project, mythweb had intolerably slow load times. the page that it brings up really doesn't matter, even 'mythtv status' takes 15seconds (timed with a mouseclick and watch), which should really only have to query the backend server for stats and print them out, no thumbnails, and only minor DB calls.

i've tried from my wifi laptop as well as my linux desktop and have the same results. the webserver itself is on an ethernet cable, and i might suggest that my routing ethernet relatively close (~1.5ft) to a power line might have something to do with it, but i'm currently pulling an rsync of about 60G of data and don't seem to be having much of a problem with speed... certainly not the type of problems that i'm getting when i try to access anything through the webserver.

i've exhausted my knowledge of troubleshooting this (short of digging through code that is just a bit too advanced for me) and have yet to see a page load from mythweb thats < 15s.[/i]

I'm running R5A30.2 on a 2.8GHZ P4 with 512MB RAM. I access mythweb over my wireless-G network (54mbps) from a laptop running windows XP using internet explorer. The laptop has a pentium-M processor -- probably 1.6ghz or 1.7 ghz.

I've found that it takes 14 seconds to display the "Listings" screen. Running "top" on my backend via putty and watching my laptop's CPU usage via the "performance tab" on "task manager", I see that my backend is busy only for a few seconds. My laptop is pegged at 99% CPU utilization until the "Listings" appear, so the problem appears to be on the "front end" of this process.

On the other hand, "recorded programs" will display in 4-5 seconds. (I currently have 116 recordings occupying 144Gb out of 343GB.) As a consequence, I've bookmarked the "recorded programs" page and always start there.

Marc

Data point: When I upgraded from R4 to R5 Mythweb slowed down considerably. In R4V5 recorded programs page used to come up virtually immediately. With R5A** the same page takes at least 30 seconds to load.

Well, the listings page can be loaded quicker after configuring mythtv to hide the channels that you do not like/dont subscribe to. I shrunk mine down from a 1.5mb webage to a 350kb page. It loads much faster now. But IE still outperforms firefox in page load times. (IE is almost immediate, i hate to say)
