I have had a bit of trouble getting /myth to link to hdc4 rather than hdc1. I then changed the default save location in setup to /mnt/hdc4/tv

This seems to save the .nvu files in the right place, but mythtv is stopping the recording when it think hdc1 is full, which it isn't..

Any ideas?

Well in the first place you're probably violating some assumption or consistency constraint. As for the rest, you're probably out of inodes on the partition it is looking at. Do you have lots of small files there?

no i've only just started!

df -h only shows hdc1 though... interesting! Seems hdc3&4 are being mounted on 1 too..

Partitions tool shows everything present and correct and fstab look ok.

weird

problem is my fstab.. hdc3 and hdc4 are coming up as 'not valid block device'. I can mount them manually fine, but no matter what I do to my fstab it still fails

Also not getting 'cannot bind to port' error when starting mythbackend...

It's been a long day and i've had enough.. off to the pub!

I suspect that the problem is more fundamental. I'm guessing that in the course of doing a manual install (the only way to install to hdc), Lem either didn't mark the other partitions as appropriate types, or didn't do the mkfs/ mke2fs/... on them.

the fact that he can mount them by hand means that they are formated.. Maybe something that
should be getting loaded by initrd, is not.

mac - I'm not sure that he's doing what he thinks he is. Note the comment about all being mounted on 1. He sounds very confused.

Lem - Please enable webmin following the directions on the wiki. Them you'll be able to use the "Hardware" -> "Partitions on Local Disks" page to gather some diagnostic information...

I sorted it out be editing the drive maps on the knoppmyth config files manually and re-installing. Tip:- latest knoppmyth has nano which is much nicer than vi.
