I should unsticky this as the next release has an updated script for this... Dinki, now I know why you asked this in IRC. I have not encountered the above. Glad to see you go it working.

Unfortunately I didn't get it working. If I wait until the next release and do an 'Upgrade Install' with the Radeon in the box, will it install the proper drivers to get X up and running or will my previous XF86Config-4 file cause problems?

Again, I have no idea why you got that message.

For a somewhat detailed explanation on how to get the Radeon 9000 (and other ATI cards) working, see my post at:

http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewto ... highlight=

For what it's worth, someone may want to sticky this post again as the Radeon install doesn't appear to be perfected yet...

I have a big problem with my 9200SE

I installed the newest driver but when i enable Xv my livetv picture is strechted vertically.

i only see the top half of the picture on the whole tv screen.

if Xv is disabled the picture is normal but very slow

i installed 8.23..., 8.22..., 8.21... everytime the same

with version 8.20... it works but gdm crashes when i exit livetv (only get black screen, cant kill gdm in console, cant reboot the system, only reset works)

opengl runs every time great, tried the radeon installer sript too, same problem

:-(

installed newest KnoppMyth on a fresh hdd

There must be very few people using ATI 9500 series cards for this not to show up more. I have the same problem with a Radeon 9250, and there is very little info on Google on it. From what I can gather it is a bug in the newer versions of the fglrx driver. Try gatos or an older version of the driver; see thread http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9390, and note the typo in the title - strechted instead of stretched, makes searches miss it.

Been fighting with the same problem on my Radeon 9550. I'm close to just dumping it for a different card but had held out hopes of an updated driver from ATI.
