I have an R5A16 setup that has been running on Comcast as an analog tuner with a PVR250 for several months. I have finally gotten Comcast to give me a dct2244 box with a serial port. I have serial port control of the dct2244 and the signal going into the S-Video port of the PVR250 and all of this works well. I have updated my Zap2It profile to reflect the Comcast Digital line-up and my guide has information for all channels up to 800.

My problem is that mythtv will only send channel change commands to the cable box up to channel 122. anything above that seems to be ignored whether I select something from the guide or manually enter the channel number.

I have tried us-cable and us-cable-hrc in myth-setup and both seem to behave the same, how do I get myth to tell the cable box to tune the upper channels?

I think you need to check your channel guide first to see how high the channel numbers go. IIRC it references that before you can dial up a channel.

Ultimately you probably need to redo the channel setup or change your cable provider profile with Zap2It. I'm guessing originally you configured your Zap2It profile as 'analog cable' rather than digital or digital-hrc.

*Update: re-run mythtv-setup as root to change your channel selections. I forget what option it's under but that's where you'll make the change.

I have Zap2it configured to be Satellite (DISH Network) and I can't even get the guide to change channels above 122. The guide or browse-mode simply return me to channel 2 again, skipping several channels I would like to see above 122.

I can't figure out how to get this to function. I'm not even CHANGING external channels at this point, I'm still waiting for my IR blaster to arrive.

I'm using the most recent KnoppMyth (5A30.2) and pretty much everything else is functioning as expected. Does anyone have an answer?

I've also tried us-cable and us-cable-hrc with no difference.

First go into Zap2It and make sure that all of the channels are checked. In mythtv setup set to bcast-cable. Then run mytfhilldatabase. You should see all of the channels in the program guide. Because you are coming from a cable box you will want to always keep the tuner itself on channel 3 (or 4). Your IR Blaster will send the right freqid to the IRBlaster port.
Do you see all of the channels in the program guide? I dont know, but it might be that the tuner itself will only go up to 122. Again, with a IRBlaster you will not be changing the channel on the tuner card, it will always remain on channel 3 (or 4). If you had basic cable or antenna then you would change the tuner cards channel.

Isn't there a limitation on the number of chanels as a result of the TV Tuner Card. I thought the card I bought (ATI TV Wonder) said up to chanel 122. I could be wrong though.

Here are my 2 cents...

I am not that experience and only follow instructions as I find them here in the forum, but I recently got my mythtv and remote control to control my DirecTV box.

Assumption: Everything with Zap2it and filldatabase is correct.

While my mythtv installation with my pvr-250 and corresponding remote "worked" fine out of the box, it obviously did not control the DirecTV box; in other words, if I typed a channel number the tuner would "switch" to the channel and the information in the guide would be correct but the program on tv wouldn't change and remained equal to the one being recieved from the DirecTV box.

Then, I followed the instructions at

http://losdos.dyndns.org:8080/public/my ... _LIRC.html

At first, I experienced something similar to the problem described above, i.e., I was not able to change to a channel greater than 125...what happened was that I had forgotten to specify the channel_chang.sh file, altogether, or initially specified it in mythtv's frontend as opposed to specifying it in the backend...that solve the problem for me.

Hope it helps, at least, to eliminate another possible reason.
