I installed Knoppmyth R5A30.2 and the installation went well. I then added a Leadtek WinFast TV2000XP tuner card. I still need to set up the tuner (I'll do that later when I have all my marbles again)
I first wanted to get the remote working (Y0400052).
I found a number of sites that give information on this remote, but nothing seems to work.

This is what dmesg says:
--<snip>--
bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:00:09.0, irq: 20, latency: 32, mmio: 0xfa000000
bttv0: detected: Leadtek TV 2000 XP [card=34], PCI subsystem ID is 107d:6609
bttv0: using: Leadtek WinFast 2000/ WinFast 2000 XP [card=34,autodetected]
bttv0: gpio: en=00000000, out=00000000 in=003ff19c [init]
tveeprom: Encountered bad packet header [ff]. Corrupt or not a Hauppauge eeprom.
bttv0: using tuner=5
--<snip>--

It seems that it tries to load a gpio module or something, but it fails.

One site suggested that I use the ir-kbd-gpio and this is what I get in dmesg:
--<snip>--
ir-kbd-gpio: bttv IR (card=34) detected at pci-0000:00:09.0/ir0
--<snip>--
THe remote works with this module, but only 4 of the number keys work (2=down, 8=up, 4=left, 6=right).
It does not matter which lirc config I use, those are the only keys that do something and that is the only thing they do.

Then I followed other advice and un-installed lirc and compiled and installed lirc-0.7.0. But when I try to load the lirc_gpio module, I get a number of failures.
--<snip>--
modprobe lirc_gpio
WARNING: Error inserting lirc_dev (/lib/modules/2.6.13.2-chw-3/misc/lirc_dev.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
FATAL: Error inserting lirc_gpio (/lib/modules/2.6.13.2-chw-3/misc/lirc_gpio.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
--<snip>--

Then I tried to re-install the lirc package (lirc_0.7.2-2_i386.deb) that comes with Knoppmyth, but now when I try to start lirc, it says that there are no drivers.
--<snip>--
# /etc/init.d/lirc start
Starting lirc daemon: lircdDriver `default' not supported.
Supported drivers:
null
--<snip>--

If I try to compile the lirc modules from package lirc-modules-source, then it fails when compiling lirc_gpio.

So, now I have a broken lirc and a remote that insist on only usig 4 keys.

Any Idea how I can get the remote to work correctly?

Thanks

Not exactly sure about the remote model, but I had the remote that came with Leadtek Winfast TV2000XP (gave it to friend) who is currently using with R5A30.2.

Here is a howto on getting it setup. Start at step 9 for remote.

Check out pic link that explains what buttons do what.

The lirc_gpio in R5B7 should work. I have B6 on my machine that has the winfast2000 and it works just fine, though the reconfigure script never worked for me. I had to manually copy over my lircrc and lircd.conf files that I keep saved. (I would post them, but mine are woefully incomplete, but work for my needs.)

This was the first page that I tried, but it did not work.

I'll upgrade to R5B7 as Xsecrets suggest. Just need to get the download started.

Thanks
Andre

well it worked for me in the R5A30 timeframe as well. As far as I know the lirc_gpio module has worked since the R4 timeframe.
