I am completly new to Linux, I currently have the latest version of Knoppmyth (R5B7) and My tuner card is the WinTV-PVR150 MCE Model 1062. I installed everything just fine but my card doesnt seem to be able to tune into any channels. I was carefull to select us-cable and make the appropriate selection for the card in myth-setup. But when I watch TV or try to record anything. It is all static. I ofcourse double checked to make sure the line was getting cable. I would provide output for you if I knew how to actually do that heh. Any help is appreciated.

here is some more information from my messages about IVTV, Note the "Tuner Type Not Set" I think that might have something to do with it

Search for "frequency set" or "HRC" either here or on the wiki. Basically you need to try the us-cable-hrc frequency set. Also try channels 5 & 6 since this is where the two sets are the closest...
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... WatchingTV
BTW - Based on the log it looks like your card is being recognized just fine.

Thanks, glad I got it installed fine. I tried the us-cable-hrc frequency set through myth TV, and looked at channels 5&6... no luck I'm afraid. Did you mean to update the frequency set somewhere in ivtv?

Did you search like I suggested and check that link for more clues? I've posted completed detailed instructions on doing this via mythtv-setup multiple times.
Frankly I'm tired of repeating myself for people who can't be bothered to search. If you're not willing to put in that much effort why should I?

Yes I searched and found where you had posted before about HRC. Also found another post about someone having problems with only a block of channels. Those channels that didnt work had frequencies listed that were identical to thier channel number. When I looked at my channels they ALL matched the channel number. Seems like a simular problem.

Actually having your channel number (channum in the database) and frequency id (freqid in the databse) match is normal. If I remember right the other post was probably from IrishCream down in Southie where his cable provider is trying to jack him. Can't even access the system using a "Cable Ready" TV without a cable box...
I'm still convinced that you've got a basic problem, either the wrong frequency set (check with your cable provider), a missing association under Input Connections, (remember only associate the connection your using with the so-called video source!), failure to set up a video source or DL the program guide info from zap2it, or you're not telling us something about how you're hooked up (hopefully straight to the wall and using the "Tuner" input?)
Hang on while I find you the link to the MythTV docs that goes through this in some detail... http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-9.html#ss9.1

I have been through that how-to 3 times, doing exactly everything it says, I have tried the HRC. I have made sure I have the right card selected, with the "tuner" input. Made sure that I have downloaded all the appropriate information from zap2it (I can pull up all the channels in the recording manager, and am watching my actual TV and all the shows line up with the zap2it database) Its still just pulling static...

Connections? Pull the coax (screw on connector right?) off the card feed it to the TV and see if that works. BTW - you never answered the question about how you're hooking up. If you're hooking up through a cable box you need to do things quite differently.
What does the card show when you query it with ivtvctl -a it's not getting set to PAL or something evil is it? Please post the full output rather than summarizing...
Have you checked the other things mentioned on that wiki page? Especially the X logfile? If you haven't got working v4l and Xv support, video output is a nonstarter.
Hardware details please, at least as detailed as my signature below. Model numbers and the whole 9-yards so I can check specs on the manufacturers website.

Small update, I tested the card on my windows computer, worked fine switching channels, then I switched out the motherboard to a difffernt socket A I had lying around, and its the same exact problem, nothing but static on each channel. The new motherboard is also a VIA Chipset but everything works fine except for it just shows static. I am going to see if I cant find a frequency table for my Cable provider (Time Warner Cable Rochester) Anyone have any other ideas?

Sounds like a hardware problem. Go check your BIOS settings, especially thing like PNP support, interupts and the like. These sound like older mother boards so it might be worth checking which PCI version they are. For example the pcHDTV folks are very careful to note that the HD3000 is a PCI 2.2 card and has issues with older motherboards as a result.

UPDATE: I spent all of yesterday switching out hardware between all my computers and reinstalling myth TV and testing to see if I was getting anychannels. I even went back and forth between B7 and 30.2, tried manually updating ivtv and my firmware, but every single time, even when the board wasnt a VIA Chipset, all the channels would be static. I also tested the other inputs on the card, which work fine. I am almost certain that the problem has something to do with my frequency tables. Zap2it Labs has 4 differnt cable line ups for my area. I tried them all, each with cable, and HRC.. nothing but static but I also noticed that at times I get a bit of an image, suggesting the frequency is close, but still off. Also tried scanning for channels andthat doesnt come up with any results. Yet whenever I use the card through windows, it has no problem locking on to channels. In a few days I am going to take it over to a friends house and see if I can lock on to any of his channels.

Have you tried tuning it directly with ivtv-tune? Run ivtv-tune --help to get a summary of the options. At the very least this is a faster way to go through the possibilities.
