After playing with thee different NICs I finally got a install on Knoppmyth to connect to the net.
Thus far the winning combo has been
K7S5A Pro. Rev 5 Motherboard
3Com 3C905 NIC
Sound Blaster Audigy (not currently connected to speakers, hence untested)
GeForce FX 5200 AGP video card with 128MB
1Gig of 184pin SDRAM PC2100
and a
Hauppauge WinTV PVR 350 PCI Interface Video Recorder

Problem. I selected the Hauppauge 350 (well x50 as I recall) in the setup. But when I go into "System Status" it reports that Tuner 1 is not recording. I know the card works (I tested it in windows install). Mythfilldatabase has been run.

Questions.

Should I be able to watch TV on my PC's Monitor?
Should I be, at the very least, able to at least view the available programing?
Any suggestions? Error logs that would be helpful to post.

Your post is vague. Of course, it will show not recording if it isn't recording. Was a recording schedule? Are you able to watch live tv?

No I cant scheadule recordings, I can't even see the programing that is availble. SHOULD I be able to watch Live TV on the PC? Was one of my questions.

did you setup a zap2it account? did you set that up in video sources? did you associate that with your input in input connections? If you've done those three things then the guide data should show even if the card isn't working yet.

If your guide data isn't showing up that means you probably don't have your channel listing, and that's where your freq information comes from to tell the tuner what to tune to, so even if your tuner is configured properly it won't work.

I thought that the channel info came from "mythfilldatabase". That could be where I blew this.

Based on your vague discriptions, I bet you never associated your channel listing with the input on your tuner card. It should be assigned to tuner0.
