Has anyone tried to build a newer version of ivtv than what's stock with R5B7 yet? Could they point to or post anything if they had problems or it went just fine. I have a tinny audio issue on my machine that came about in 0.4.3 but I hear people cannot backgrade due to a v4l driver issue.

One must have 2.6.16 in order to use ivtv 0.6.x. So, no it isn't possible to install 0.6.x w/ R5B7 which include 2.6.15.

Great thread.. the fix however, does not stick between a few channel changes or going in and out of the tv to another part of the dvr..

Try upgrading to 0.4.4 (see the very recently updated CompileIvtv page on the wiki for directions) one of the fixes in the changelog sounds like it might be related.
